From May through October, the island's cold, crystal-clear waters come alive with an abundance of fish species, making it the perfect destination for anglers seeking both challenge and reward. A Rich Variety of Fish Kodiak Island’s saltwater ecosystem is home to some of the most prized fish in the world, each one offering a unique fishing experience.

Let’s dive into some of the island’s most sought-after species:

Halibut: These bottom-dwelling giants are a staple of Kodiak’s fishing scene. Halibut are abundant from May through October, and the thrill of hooking a massive halibut is one every angler should experience. Known for their delicious, mild-flavored meat, halibut are not only fun to catch but also provide a fantastic culinary reward. The best part? Halibut are available for most of the year, with some seasonal closures in January and select weekdays, so there's plenty of opportunity to land one of these hefty fish. With our Gaf permits we will be able to fish halibut all days of the week! 2025 Halibut Restricted Days: All Wednesdays year-round, as well as Tuesdays between May 13 and September 9 will not apply.

King Salmon: Found year-round in Kodiak waters, king salmon are prized for their size, strength, and unmistakable flavor. These fish are a challenge to catch, especially in the summer months when their numbers peak. Whether you're fishing from the shore or a boat, hooking a king salmon is an unforgettable experience. Keep in mind the saltwater bag limits allow for two king salmon, so make every catch count!

Silver Salmon: Known for their aggressive fight and excellent taste, silver salmon make their appearance in Kodiak waters from early July through September. They’re an exciting catch for any angler, especially during the height of the fishing season when the waters are teeming with these energetic fish. Silver salmon are popular targets due to their impressive size and the challenge they present in the fight.

Rock Fish: The reefs around Kodiak Island are home to non-migratory sea bass, colorful and hearty fish that are a joy to catch. Sea bass bite eagerly throughout the year, making them a reliable target for anglers year-round. These fish are hardy and plentiful, ensuring a fun experience for both novice and experienced fishermen. Lingcod: A true prize for any angler, lingcod are abundant from May through October but are off-limits during the first half of the year (January through June 30). Their aggressive nature and sizeable catch make them a favorite for thrill-seeking fishers. These fish are found around the island's rocky reefs and are known for putting up a serious fight.

Fishing Regulations and Limits

While Kodiak Island offers a rich fishing experience, it’s important to keep in mind the fishing regulations designed to protect the health of the fishery. Here’s a quick rundown of the saltwater bag limits:

• 2 Halibut
• 2 King Salmon
• 5 Other Salmon (red, silver, pink, and chum)
• 3 Sea Bass
• 2 Lingcod

Halibut and lingcod have specific seasonal closures, and it’s important to stay up-to-date on these dates to avoid fines. Halibut are closed in January, on all Wednesdays, and select Tuesdays, while lingcod are closed from January through June 30.

When you book a fishing charter with us, you’ll enjoy a full day on the water equipped with everything you need for an unforgettable adventure. We provide high-quality Shimano Trevala rods, Avet reels, and state-of-the-art tackle, ensuring you have the best tools for the job. Plus, all the bait is included, so you can focus on reeling in the big one. Our charter runs from 7-8 a.m. to mid-afternoon, giving you plenty of time to fish and explore the waters around Kodiak Island. We also offer a selection of snacks, soda, and bottled water to
keep you refreshed throughout the day. To ensure the best quality catch, we’ve partnered with Kodiak Wild Source, a local fish processor, to help turn your fishing experience into a long-lasting culinary delight. Their services guarantee you’ll enjoy top-quality fish for years to come.

What to Bring

While we provide everything you need for a successful fishing day, it’s important to come prepared for the unpredictable Alaskan weather. Warm, waterproof clothing is a must, as you could experience all four seasons in one day. Full Day Rates

• Full Day Charters are $475 per person + city sales tax of 7%. Includes all fishing equipment, tackle, bait, lunch, soft drinks, water, coffee, and snacks. Price reflects a 3% cash discount.
• Full Day Rate: $475 per person + Boat: 6 people (private charter rate, book the full boat and get 10% discount: $2,565+ tax

Evening Charter Rates

• $275 pp rockfish, salmon, Pacific cod, lingcod (in season) + city sales tax of 7%. Includes all fishing equipment, tackle, bait, water, coffee and snacks. Price reflects a 3% cash discount.

Not Included:

• Fishing license, king salmon stamp $20, halibut stamp $20, and Fish Processing
